Prezzy and shopping...love the mail...

This is my present that I won on Tracey's blog....I am so lucky...thanks heaps Tracey I love it and just need a bag like this to take my sewing in instead of a snap lock bag that I am using at present....the peppermint aero bars have disappeared....I gave one to DH and he asked where did I get it and I said from my "imaginery friend" (this blog stuff is weird for him) but he did ask where was my "imaginery friend" from.....
This is some material I ordered from Z & S Fabrics.......packaged so beautifully I didn't want to pull it apart.....
......but I had to to show you.... These materials are from the Sonnet Collection by April Cornell for MODA and I have a couple of charm packs and another piece of material and an idea in my head which I will have to get onto paper before I forget.....
....till next time....

Angel Swap.... and a report on lunch....

I have signed up for an angel swap....it is being organised by Janet at Wildcraft Farm and you can sign up and get details here .....it can be an applique or stitchery....even if you don't want to join in check out her blog as she is new to blogland.....

I am thinking about the pincushion swap that some of the girls are talking about on blogs...........

Oh and about lunch....I have a lovely time...I did mention it was raining here last night when I did my last post, well I woke up this morning to 1 inch of rain...very nice but today was very cold.....So my trip to town was very wet with all the dirt but at least I didn't do any 180 degree spins in the mud like last time it rained....
Lunch was lovely, thanks A... except now I have a few blocks to do for a project of hers that is a quilt a bit like a SBS, Dear Jane or Nearly Insane - I hope that I have picked easy enough blocks...it will be a good challenge so when I have them complete I will post..........

The days are greener........yippee

Hey everyone thought I should give you a weather update.....as I posted so many dry drought photos......in the last month we have had just under 4 inches/100ml of rain and we are having some more as I speak/type........the grass is growing slowly and the country side looks magic.......just like a someone rolled out vibrant green carpet......
I was out driving about today and even up the hills is green sooooo pretty and the country that has been worked up for sowing is chocolate brown...magic.....
When we have rain it doesn't always look like this as we have more dry grass cover but since everything was so bare it is amazing so I wanted to share it with you......
Sunset this afternoon............

Long weekend activities and celebrating 50 posts giveaway

As mentioned before Dragonfly came for the longweekend with her kids. After it rained all day Friday I had to plough into town Friday night (I have lots of dirt road) and home again to get her Saturday we stayed put. Sewing sewing sewing all day.....Oh I think we went outside once....
I made ther bags above for a friend. Dragonfly made one also.
As she sews heaps of box bags I have a lesson and this is what I made.....Does look better then the pic but the piece of material is from my DS for mothers day so I had to make something for myself. I am going to make more of these.....they are quick and easy to make up. Tutti Fruiti makes lots also....

Since all the rain the oats is coming up and the country looks a pic of green carpet which I will post about later (to much to report on now....).
On Sunday we went to the quilt show (see previous post) and the rodeo (see Dragonfly's post ).
My brother came out to pick up a foal to wean it from it's mother.... This was entertaining for us to watch him try and get the head stall on it and then get it into the trailer....

The kids spent a lot of time on the bikes and they went yabbying, also caught some tadpoles and a fish at the dam which is now full from all the rain.....they got muddy and had heaps of fun....one night DH and the kids had a bonfire. Dragonfly and myself were to busy enjoying a scotch and coke to go to the bonfire and it was toooo cold....Tutti Fruiti rang during this and I think she was checking up to see what she was missing out on and she didn't say but I think she really wanted to be here sewing with us.....she had to work.......poor girl...
Monday saw us in the sheep yards draughting up the sheep into several mobs, they are due to lamb this weekend..... Yes I can draught 3 ways.......only made a few mistakes thankgoodness as I have to catch them..........DH can't draught yet with his knee from the major injury last year..... funny to see the visitors trying to catch a sheep it would make funniest home vidoes at times.....
All in all we had a wonderful time.............they will be back again soon.....
Now as this is my drawn out 50th post I am going to have a prize for someone who leaves me a comment.....will probably draw it over the weekend so get in quick.............not sure what this will be yet but something exciting.................
bye for now........... got to pick the kids up from the school bus.......

Some fat quaters which don't go together and won't but I liked them all......little DD project with the hot pink piece. Following are some shots from the quilt show. The girls did so well. You can't even tell it is the local library barely a book to be seen.......lots of wonderful quilts approx 60 odd quilts then some bags, stitcheries and pillows etc.......

Oh things are better today...thanks for the kind thoughts...........and a blog lurker who had lunch with me today...........you know who you are......
Oh and I didn't win the quilt raffle...........

WARNING NEVER TRY THIS AT HOME

WARNING WARNING WARNING ....... Never try this at home…..
I started this quilt approx 6 years ago. It was my first quilt I attempted. The piecing was quite quick and not to bad. (Finished size 84"x100") I designed the quilt myself. I started to hand quilt it and had done very little and decided that I was NOT going to do this. Then I decided I would do a cris–cross pattern straight through the blocks…..I started this and only got ½ way thru. OMG it was so hard to feed to quilt thru my little sewing machine. As the DH had gone for the day I stopped as I couldn’t feed it thru evenly. It ended up being put away and neglected. I do not know what I was thinking when I thought I could do this. I will never attempt something so big again especially made of flannelette...so thick....
Now to present time………..it has been sitting out for a few months waiting for someone to “take care” of it. On Monday a friend Bev motivated me enough to get into it and by 11pm that night I hated her big time. My arms were killing, cramps etc (my whole body was aching) from trying to manoeuver this quilt thru the machine. Tuesday night onto the binding….. I cheated and sewed it on completely. Finished this off this morning and now you see the finished product.
I can tell you it is not the best quilting job but not to bad for a first attempt. Didn’t end up going cross both way only one and TOOOOOOO hard for me. I just think of the money I have saved quilting it myself. It will be going to the quilt display here with a couple of my other quilts. They can put it in a corner somewhere to fill up space. I am sooooo pleased it is complete........
To finish up while outside taking to quilt pics I went and saw the girls they have started to lay eggs again thank goodness........I really hate buying eggs................
I have a sewing weekend lined up with a visitor and her 2 kids so should be a great time........will post some pics next week of what we get up to over the weekend. Perfect sewing weather wet and cold....stoke up the fire and sew away. Last year on this weekend I had 19 in the house and it was wet and cold and no one walked mud into the house.
Hopefully if I get to the quilt show (if it isn't to wet on the road) I will remember to take some pics while there to share with you all..........have a great weekend..........or a great longweekend if you are is Aussie land.............
Take care.........

June Long Weekend Activities - come along.......

Sorry international viewers this is a post for the Aussie girls but if you want to jump on a jumbo now you could make it……………… could find a spare bed.....

For the June long weekend I am going to the biggest combined rodeo and campdraft in the Southern Hemisphere. It is at Coonamble in North West NSW. Pop approx 3000 people. This weekend is huge for Coonamble. Many volunteers are involved.
They have rodeo and campdraft all weekend, bush poets breakfast and a quilt display. Yes that is right a quilt display and I will be there. Local quilters in this display which is jam packed into the local library. Always looks fantastic. They also have a raffle of a quilt which is pictured below. I will have to make sure I have get some raffle tickets in this one.
Honeysuckle Cottage will be there with a display of goodies to purchase....yummy....more sewing....
So if you want a great weekend away or a day out head to Coonamble where all the action is on the June long weekend
